Morphological Evaluation of Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) Genotypes Based on DUS Characteristics and Character Association among Seed Yield Characters

Twenty-one genotypes of chickpea were used in the experiment, which was carried out by using a Randomized Block Design with three replications at Department Genetics and Plant breeding, Sam Higginbottom University Agriculture, Technology Sciences, Naini Allahabad, U. P during rabi season 2021-22. The present investigation to morphologically characterization classify on basis DUS descriptors suggested PPV& FRA. observations recorded five randomly selected plants from each replication for 12 different quantitative traits. Analysis variance showed significant differences all characters viz., Days 50 % Flowering, Maturity, pod initiation, Height, Number Primary Branches, Secondary number pods per plant, effective seeds Biological Yield, Harvest Index, economic Yield Per Plant, Seed Index. results analysis that majority qualities significantly variable. Among twenty-one genotypes, CG-297 high seed yield plant followed CG-255, CG-288, CG-210 CG-214. All these as compare check PUSA-362. High Genotypic Coefficient Variation Phenotypic observed yield, index, harvest plant. heritability coupled genetic advance percent mean biological correlation studies revealed positively correlated height, index. path indicated index maximum positive direct effect thus, may be considered useful traits improvement chickpea.
